Miami is hosting Georgia transfer center Somto Cyril this weekend and the Hurricanes could be the favorite to sign him. Several other transfers are strongly considering Miami, according to reports. Jai Lucas and his staff should have Miami as one of the most active programs in the 2026 Transfer Portal.
Other transfers to watch for Miami are 6'5 North Carolina State shooting guard Matthew Able, 6'7 Notre Dame combo guard Jalen Haralson and Robert Morris power forward DeSean Goode. Able signed a National Letter of Intent with Miami in November 2024, but was released from it in February 2025.
Cyril had a significant jump in development in 2025-26, averaging 9.3 points per game on 75.9 percent from the field, 5.4 rebounds and 2.2 blocks in 21.2 minutes, playing in 33 games with 32 starts. Cryril did not score and had only one rebound as Georgia lost 102-77 to St. Louis in the NCAA Tournament.
Georgia signed Cyril as a four-star prospect, 44th overall and the ninth center in the 2024 class per the 247Sports composite rankings. Jordan Kee, who transferred to Miami in 2025 and is back in the portal, was also in the 2024 Georgia class.
With Somto Cyril reportedly visiting Miami this weekend and being one of the top players linked to the Hurricanes, just what could they have in the Georgia transfer?

Reestablishing connection with Matthew Able
Able being released from his NLI in February 2025 was a few weeks before Miami hired Jai Lucas. Lucas could seek to reestablish Able's connection with Miami and sell him on the direction the Hurricanes basketball program is heading.
Able averaged 8.8 PPG on 41.6 percent from the field, 35.5 percent three-point shooting, 79.6 percent from the free throw line with a 51.4 eFG percentage while posting 3.4 RPG and 1.2 steals. Miami returns Shelton Henderson at small forward and Dante Allen at shooting guard, the positions Able can play.
One team that’s going to be scary good going forward is Miami. In year one, former Duke associate HC Jai Lucas went 26–9, earned a 7 seed, and finished 3rd in the ACC. Expect an even stronger portal build ahead with more serious talent going there.👀 pic.twitter.com/JN3pAVOdp8

At 6'7 and 220 pounds, Haralson would provide Lucas and Miami with a physical presence to team with Henderson and 2026 five-star power forward signee Caleb Gaskins. Haralson averaged 16.2 PPG on 51.5 percent from the field with a 52.3 eFG percentage and 4.0 RPG and 2.6 APG as a freshman in 2025-26.
Goode improved significantly with Robert Morris in 2025-26 after transferring from IU-Indy, averaging 15.2 points on 62.9 percent from the floor, 57,1 percent on three-point attempts, 76.3 percent from the free throw line with a 68.9 eFG percentage while contributing 8.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists.
Center and point guard are the biggest positions of need for Miami in the 2026 Transfer Portal. Cyril would be an ideal replacement for 2025-26 Miami starting center Ernest Udeh, who had similar numbers. As a former PG, Lucas can sell his knowledge of the position to potential Miami transfers.
