The Miami Hurricanes received a commitment from Indiana transfer combo guard Nick Dorn as Jai Lucas continues to stack the roster with talent for next season.

Dorn, who entered the transfer portal on April 9 after spending one season in Indiana. Previous to his stop with the Big Ten program, Dorn was at Elon, where he was one of the top players for the Phoenix for his freshman and sophomore years.

The 6-foot-7, 220-pound guard averaged 8.1 points and 2.3 rebounds per game as a part-time starter for the Hoosiers last season. What Dorn will bring to the Hurricanes is the ability to play the wing and provide much-needed additional outside shooting.

MIami has shown teams that they can battle in the front court with any team in the nation. The Hurricanes are big and tough. What was missing from last year's 25-win team is a little more volume of perimeter offense. It wasn't that Miami was bad on 3-point shooting. The Hurricanes shot almost 35%, which was about average, but they were among the bottom in the nation when it came to 3-pointers made and 3-pointers attempted.

Dorn is a good outside shooter who has the potential to be great at 3-pointers. He shot 38% from the range last season and is over 36% for his career. He could slot in the lineup or be the first guard off the bench and provide instant offense.

As a freshman, Dorn averaged 9.1 points and 3.1 rebounds per game for Elon and was named to the Coastal Athletic Conference's All-Rookie team. He leveled up as a sophomore, increasing his averages to 15.2 points and 3.8 rebounds per game and made three 3-pointers per contest.

Lucas has a roster that should compete for the top four in the ACC again next season. The centerpieces of the transfer group that the second-year coach brought in has to be guard Acaden Lewis, who averaged 12.2 points and 5.3 rebounds as a freshman last season with Villanova, and 6-foot-11 big man Somto Cyril, who will be an intimidating presence in the paint after averaging 9.3 points and 5.4 rebounds in his sophomore season with the Georgia Bulldogs.
