Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes went 1-for-1 this weekend and the 2027 recruiting class is another step closer to full.
Four-star defensive back Andre Hyppolite became the 19th member of the Hurricanes' No.2-ranked class, committing to Miami after taking an official visit this weekend. Hyppolite also had Florida, Minnesota, Georgia and Notre Dame in the picture, but the Gators were the main competition here and Cristobal gets one over Jon Sumrall in a battle of in-state programs that are both aiming for the top recruiting class. The North Miami Beach product had official visits planned to Georgia and Notre Dame to close out the official visit season, but those have been taken off the schedule.Â

Andre Hyppolite is the latest commitment for the Miami Hurricanes
It's been a long but rewarding process for Hyppolite, who was a late riser in the 2027 class and received his offer from Miami in late January. After having a breakthrough junior season, Hyppolite's profile continued to grow, and he earned a four-star ranking from both Rivals/On3 and 247Sports. He's ranked as the No. 9 safety on Rivals and is a fringe top-100 player nationally.
Despite keeping a relatively low profile compared to other top recruits, Hyppolite leaned on his junior film and unofficial visits to raise his stock. Using composite rankings, Hyppolite gives Miami its 14th blue-chip recruit out of 19 commits, an incredible 73.7 blue-chip hit rate.Â
"I put my trust in the coaches, and I believe in them to get me to where I want to be on and off the field," Hyppolite told Gaby Urrutia from InsideTheU.

Mario Cristobal is close to closing out the 2027 recruiting class
With all 19 commits locked into Miami and the decision to move on from elite in-state linebacker, Kaden Henderson, there aren't too many more spots left in the Hurricanes' class. The final number in the class is unknown, but it's likely to be under 25 players. Miami is still in hot pursuit of four-star wide receiver Eli Woodard, a former USC commit, and Cristobal will leave spots open for five-star edge rusher DJ Jacobs, an Ohio State commit, and five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews, who is committed to Texas A&M. There are two players on the schedule for official visits next weekend, but four-star safety Tashawn Poole might be off the board now that Hyppolite has committed and four-star wide receiver Jalen Upshaw, a Texas A&M commit, is questionable to take his visit since he has canceled others after his visit to the Aggies on May 29.Â
While no one is scheduled to take an official visit to Miami next weekend, it is always wise to keep on Jacobs to see if he decides to drop in. Miami does have its final major prospect camp on Wednesday, and it's possible some of their top targets will stay around campus for multiple days. However, if this turns out to be the final piece of the class, Cristobal deserves credit for a job well done.
