The Miami Hurricanes running back room will arguably be the deepest in the country this season, but Mario Cristobal knows that he has to continue stocking it for the future and the player that may best fit future plans is four-star prospect Myson Johnson-Cook.

Cristobal and staff have been aggressive in recruiting the top-five running back from East St. Louis and recent projections from On3/Rivals have the Hurricanes with over a 90 percent chance of receiving a commitment.

"I think things are really trending well for Myson Johnson-Cook," said On3/Rivals Miami site writer EJ Holland. "He's been on campus twice over the past two months. He attended the two biggest recruiting events of the offseason so far.

Holland is referencing Johnson-Cook's attendance at the "305 Day" event held on... March 5th and the pool party recruiting event that was this past weekend. If anything, his presence for those events shows how much the Hurricanes staff values him as a target.

The Hurricanes are in a favorable position for Myson Johnson-Cook

One of the biggest questions about recruiting is the fit. Does this player fit what a school wants to do? It's safe to say that Johnson-Cook is an excellent fit for the Miami offense. The big back has been a crucial part of the Miami offense for as long as I can remember. Guys like Alonzo Highsmith, Stephen McGuire, Wilis McGahee and currently, Mark Fletcher Jr. are big backs that have thrived in the Miami system. Johnson-Cook, at 6-foot-2, and 235 pounds, also has a breakaway speed element that makes him particularly unique.

When Johnson-Cook talked about his fit in Miami with 247Sports writer Gaby Urrutia, he mentioned Cristobal's commitment to being physical up front and how that makes a big back even more effective.

"Without a physical o-line, it's kind of hard to be a good running back. I love seeing how physical Miami's offense is," Johnson-Cook said." The o-linemen, I know, Mario Cristobal, is going to keep recruiting great o-linemen. If I play here, I know I'll have great o-linemen around me."

There's no question that Cristobal will have a great offensive line and soon Johnson-Cook will decide that he wants to be the next great back to run behind it.
