Mario Cristobal provided Josh Pate of 247Sports the latest update on the progress of Miami quarterback Carson Beck's progress from offseason surgery. Cristobal previously updated ESPN last week about where Beck currently is in his rehabilitation from a torn UCL suffered in the 2024 SEC Championship game.
Beck did not participate in spring practice as he recovered from the surgery. Cristobal told Andrea Adelson of ESPN last week, "He's good to go...He's exceeding every benchmark" when asked about Beck's progress. Beck appears to be ready to participate in summer workouts with his teammates.
Beck will work with wide receivers Tony Johnson and Keelan Marion, who Miami added through the spring transfer portal. C.J. Daniels transferred to Miami during the winter portal, as the Hurricanes have nearly completely remade their WR corps after losing their top six receivers from 2024.
Beck was able to work with Miami offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson on learning his system and building chemistry with his teammates and the coaching staff through the spring. Entering his last season of collegiate eligibility, Beck faces a pivotal year with Miami.
"The first part that's really encouraging for us is he's almost at 100 percent. I'm talking maybe a week away from being there. He's been throwing for weeks now. He joins our team on Sunday. There's no limitations for him and he looks great. "Mario Cristobal
Cristobal also told Pate that Beck is focused and shares some traits with his predecessor Cam Ward, but they have different personalities. How well Beck recovers and plays with more consistency than he did in 2024 will be critical for Miami to have success in 2025.
Beck played in 27 consecutive games before being injured in 2024. In the two seasons Beck was the starter at Georgia, Beck proved his durability. Beck has seemed to progress ahead of schedule, according to the comments Cristobal has made throughout the 2025 offseason. Beck should be ready for the start of the 2025 season.
