In an article published on Saturday morning by Brandon Marcello of CBS Sports, "Miami QB Carson Beck cleared to throw as Georgia transfer takes big step in recovery from elbow surgery." "I'm really, really impressed with his knowledge of the game," Cristobal said.
Beck suffered a tear in his ulnar collateral ligament in the SEC Championship Game while playing for Georgia versus Texas in December. Per Marcello, Beck will begin throwing on Monday for the first time since the injury. Beck could not throw "but participated in meetings, walkthroughs and drills while watching practices this spring".
With Williams out, Judd Anderson, Luke Nickel and Emory Williams have shared the snaps this spring. Despite missing spring practice, Cristobal indicated that Beck has been a great teammate this spring and is clearly taking on a leadership role.
Beck has a big role to fill after Cam Ward had the most prolific season by a quarterback in Miami history, led the Hurricanes to the top offense nationally in 2024 and is the overwhelming favorite to be the first player selected in the NFL Draft later this month.
Miami quarterback Carson Beck has been cleared to throw the football, coach Mario Cristobal told @CBSSports on Friday.

""He's there. It's ready...Since we're at the end of spring ball, we just took the extra precaution to (wait) another week...I'm really, really impressed with his knowledge of the game...His football IQ is off the charts..."He's done everything regarding ball. The only thing he hasn't done is actually throw,""Mario Cristobal told to CBS Sports
Beck will be able to ease into throwing throughout the remainder of the offseason without feeling any pressure to participate in spring practice. Miami will begin the 2024 season on August 31 versus Notre Dame. Training camp will begin in early August.
Beck will continue working with the offense and learning the system run by offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson and building chemistry with his teammates. Miami is expected to try and add another wide receiver through the transfer portal when it opens on Wednesday.
