The speculation surrounding the top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft seems to be over. The Tennessee Titans appear to be fully locked in on Miami quarterback Cam Ward. Multiple sources indicate the Titans have effectively closed the door on other quarterback prospects, specifically Colorado star Shedeur Sanders.

Following yesterday’s Colorado Pro Day, the Titans’ brass reportedly held a meeting with Sanders’ camp. The result? A mutual decision to cancel Sanders’ previously scheduled private workout with Tennessee. That kind of move, especially this close to the draft, tends to say a lot more than it doesn’t.

The Titans have done their homework during the draft process. On top of four full years of Ward’s game film, they’ve also had scouts on hand to watch him closely at the Combine, Miami's Pro Day, and the private workout they had with him.

Sanders is widely considered to be the No. 2 ranked QB in this class but serious consideration for the top spot has faded as the draft gets closer. Even after a great career at Colorado, the Titans decision to cancel the one-on-one session with him suggests they’ve zeroed in on Ward.

While no official announcement has been made — and likely won’t be until draft night — the writing seems to be on the wall. Tennessee has made the evaluations and is now making moves that reflect a locked-in decision. In the next three picks following, Travis Hunter, Abdul Carter and Sanders will most likely be the next players selected.

With Ward potentially on his way to the Music City, Titans fans can start imagining a new-look offense built around a quarterback with a rocket arm and great pocket presence. The countdown to the first round on April 24 continues, but if this week’s developments are any indication, the Titans are already ahead of the clock.
