The Miami Hurricanes have successfully flipped four-star cornerback Jontavius Wyman from his commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs per Steve Wiltfong for On3. Head coach Mario Cristobal and his staff have been able to pull in top-tier commitments during the 2026 recruiting cycle.
Wyman, who is from Jonesboro High School in Georgia, had been verbally committed to Georgia since July. However, after a series of visits, he announced his decision to join the Hurricanes.

Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 170 pounds, Wyman is versatile prospect who has excelled on both sides of the ball in high school. Offensively, he amassed 34 receptions for 506 yards and seven touchdowns. Defensively, he recorded 32 tackles, two interceptions, and three pass breakups. Wyman also returned two punts for touchdowns.
Miami's defensive backs coach Zac Etheridge played a pivotal role in the recruitment process. Etheridge's persistent efforts and the program's overall culture resonated with Wyman. Reflecting on his decision, Wyman stated, "I just felt like everything going on that’s the school I see myself playing at. The culture, I love the coaches, facilities and how that program carries itself in general. The standard."
Safeties coach Will Harris and Etheridge have played a big part in the recruiting for the 2026 cycle. Wyman's commitment marks the ninth addition to Miami's 2026 recruiting class and seventh 4-star recruit. Miami now holds the 11th-ranked 2026 recruiting class in the nation per On3. Prior to the flip, Miami was ranked 13th in the country. This flip shows Miami's ability to compete with an established SEC powerhouse like Georgia in their own state.
This isn't the first time in recent months that Miami has successfully flipped a high-caliber recruit. The Hurricanes previously secured a commitment from Jaelan Waters who was originally committed to Florida. The addition of Wyman is expected to help Miami's secondary significantly. His versatility provides the Hurricanes with a player capable of making contributions soon after he steps on campus.
