In around three months, the NFL Draft will arrive and all eyes are going to be on Miami Hurricanes signal-caller Cam Ward, Colorado's Shedeur Sanders and teammate Travis Hunter. Who's going to end up being the No. 1 overall pick in the first round?
We can't wait to find out and Miami fans everywhere are in the same boat. Several analysts think that Ward is no question worthy of hearing his name called first on draft night. The list now includes guru Mel Kiper Jr., who just came out with his debut 2025 NFL Mock Draft on ESPN.
So, who does Kiper believe the Tennessee Titans will be going with? In no surprise, Kiper thinks the AFC South side, which is in desperate need of a new franchise quarterback, will draft Ward over Sanders and Hunter.
Mel Kiper Jr. has Cam Ward going No. 1 to Tennessee in his latest NFL Mock Draft
"I'm sure new general manager Mike Borgonzi will listen to trade offers here, but his real decision should come down to Ward vs. Colorado's Shedeur Sanders," Kiper wrote. "I actually have Sanders ranked one spot ahead of Ward on my Big Board (No. 4 overall). Ward has the early top-pick buzz around the league, though, so that's where I'm leaning for now. He extends plays with his creativity, mobility and strong arm. Ward led the nation with 39 touchdown passes this season, and he'd help put the Titans back on track."
In his mock draft, Kiper has Ward going No. 1, while Travis Hunter will be Cleveland-bound at No. 2 and Sanders will be joining the Giants at No. 3. Could a surprise team jump in from out of nowhere to trade for the top pick? You never know what might happen, but the Titans need a star QB and they need one bad.
Will Levis isn't the answer for the long haul. He has been far too inconsistent with the ball in his hands and he made more noise for bad plays in 2024 than he did for his good ones. That's not the case with Ward, who put up historic numbers for the Canes this past fall. From our chair, it'd be a no-brainer for the Titans to take Ward. He's the real deal and the kind of player who could excite the Titans fanbase.
