Paul Myerberg of USA Today has Miami second in his ACC power rankings ahead of spring practice. Miami began spring practice two days before Myerberg posted his article on March 5. The Hurricanes had three practices last week before being off this week for Spring Break.
Myerberg provided a short synopsis for all 17 ACC Football programs entering spring practice. The synopsis for Miami began with Myerberg stating replacing quarterback Cam Ward will not be easy and the uncertainty around the health of his replacement Carson Beck this spring.
Beck was an essential transfer addition for Miami to provide stability at QB entering the 2025 season. Ward had an experienced wide receiver corps to work with in 2024. Development of the WR corps during spring practice is critical for Miami. LSU transfer C.J. Daniels and sophomore Joshisa Trader are players to watch.
Beck is expected to be healthy by the end of spring practice and should definitely be ready for August training camp. Miami can lean on running backs Mark Fletcher Jr. and Jordan Lyle. With the return of Fletcher Jr. and Lyle, Miami is projected to have one of the best-rushing offenses nationally in 2025.
"Replacing Cam Ward won’t be easy, especially given the uncertainty around Georgia transfer Carson Beck and his recovery from last year’s arm injury. If healthy, Beck gives the Hurricanes a steady but far less vibrant starter to lead another talented roster. But there's the matter of avoiding the surprising losses that have plagued the program in recent years."Paul Myerberg, USA Today
Miami has a difficult non-conference schedule that begins with Notre Dame on August 31 and ends against Florida on September 20. After a bye, Miami begins ACC play at Florida State before another bye. Miami finishes the season with seven consecutive weeks of ACC games.
Miami does not leave Florida until November 1 at SMU. Eight of the first 10 Miami games are at home in 2025. Miami finishes the 2025 season at Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh. SMU will be a challenging game versus a team that made the 2024 College Football Playoff. Winning games they are favored in could determine Miami's 2025 destiny.
