Carson Beck was named the ACC Quarterback of the Week and Akheem Mesidor the top defensive lineman in the conference for their performances leading Miami to a 34-17 win over Virginia Tech on Saturday. Defensive lineman Armondo Blount, safety Zechariah Poyser and wide receiver Malachi Toney were also honored.
Beck, Blount, Mesidor, Poyser and Toney were all named to the Pro Football Focus ACC Team of the Week 13. Beck, Toney, Poyser and Mesidor were the four highest graded Miami players by PFF for their performance versus Virginia Tech.
PFF gave Beck a 90.2 overall grade and 90.6 passing grade per David Lake of Inside the U. Beck completed 27 passes in 32 attempts for 320 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions. Beck completed his first 11 passes against Virginia Tech, which concluded with a streak of 24 consecutive completions to set a Miami record.
Mesidor was fourth on Miami with an 81.6 overall PFF grade against Virginia Tech. Mesidor had five tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack and a QB hurry versus the Hokies. Lake reported PFF credited Mesidor with eight QB hurries and two missed tackles.

Malachi Toney continues setting high standards
Toney set career highs with 12 receptions on 15 targets for 146 yards with 96 after the catch and one TD, one completion on his only attempt for 15 yards and three carries for 16. PFF gave Toney an 84.6 grade. Lake noted Toney forced six missed tackles.
Poyser led Miami with 10 tackles and added 1.0 sack, 1.0 TFL, one pass breakup and one QB hurry. PFF gave Poyser an 84.1 PFF grade and via Lake recorded him as not allowing a reception on his only target. Poyser showed his versatility with 32 snaps at free safety and 30 at nickel per Lake via PFF.
Beck and Mesidor were named to the PFF All-ACC team for the second consecutive week. Mesidor was on the PFF National Team of Week 12. Beck and Mesdior are pishing to be named All-ACC. Toney is close to a lock to earning multiple ACC and national awards at the end of the season.
