Come May 12, Miami and Mario Cristobal are going to find out where 5-star offensive tackle and top Canes target Oluwasemilore Olubobola is going to be playing his college ball. Will the ACC powerhouse be able to win the recruiting battle for the New Jersey product?
Mario Cristobal could be on the verge of more 5-star help with commitment date set
Ahead of his scheduled decision time, Olubobola is down to Miami, Notre Dame and Texas A&M. While there had been some promise that the 6-6, 295-pounder would pick the Canes, it doesn't seem likely at this point. That's because ND insider Mike Singer has locked in his prediction for Marcus Freeman to take down both Cristobal and Mike Elko in this one:

Notre Dame appears to be in the driver's seat for 5-star OT Oluwasemilore Olubobola
Notre Dame has been looking strong here of late, but there was hope that maybe, just maybe the Hurricanes and Cristobal would be able to change his mind a bit. Could there be a bit of a stunner once his decision day arrives? Maybe, but fans shouldn't be feeling overly optimistic right now.
Should Miami and Cristobal end up missing out on the St. Peter's Prep standout, then the attention will of course shift to fellow 5-star tackle Mark Matthews, who is also high on Miami. However, he was recently predicted to land with Texas A&M, which is a huge concern.
Should Cristobal end up going 0-for-2 for Matthews and Olubobola, it'd be the worst-case scenario for the future of the offensive line. However, Miami fans won't lose any sleep at night thanks to Cristobal recently flipping 5-star Georgia commit Donte Wright.
That was a massive get for Miami and a reminder that Cristobal is still an ace recruiter. With that said, the fact that Olubobola likely looks Notre Dame-bound is going to be a bit of a setback and things are only going to be made worse if Matthews follows suit down the road. The Miami faithful are keeping their fingers crossed that doesn't happen, but the first unfortunate domino to fall is likely coming with Olubobola, as it will be a huge get for Freeman if it does go down.
