After losing 14-4 at UCF on Tuesday, Miami was swept in a three-game series at Wake Forest this weekend. Wake Forest dominated Miami in game one before rallying in both games of the doubleheader on Saturday to sweep the series. Sunday's game was moved to Saturday due to expected rain in Winston-Salem.
Wake Forest won the series opener 8-0 with two runs in the first, one in the second and four in the fourth on a grand slam from Mareek Houston. Jack Winnay gave Wake Forest the lead in the first inning with a home run and Dalton Wentz cleared the fence in the second.
Nick Robert started for Miami on Friday. Robert pitched five innings allowing eight hits, seven runs, six earned with two walks and six strikeouts. Jake Dorn pitched the final three innings allowing two hits, and one unearned run with a walk and two strikeouts but gave up the grand slam to Houston.
Logan Lunceford started in game one for Wake Forest and allowed three hits and a walk with eight strikeouts in seven innings. Zach Johnston pitched the final two innings for Wake Forest allowing a walk with three strikeouts to close out the Demon Deacons win.
Miami took a 4-0 lead in the top of the fourth in game one of the doubleheader on Saturday. Wake Forest answered with two runs in the fifth, one in the sixth, one in the eighth and one in the 10th to complete the comeback. Miami allowed two more HRs and Bobby Marsh hit one for the Hurricanes.
Griffin Hugus put Miami in a position to win going 5.2 innings allowing seven hits and three earned runs, with no walks and eight strikeouts. Carson Fischer walked two batters in the 10th inning that preceded the game-winning RBI single with one out in the 10th inning,

After falling behind 5-2 after three, Miami scored two in the fourth and two in the fifth to regain the lead at 6-5 and added a run in the sixth to extend the lead to 7-5. Wake Forest scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth to take control of the game with a 12-7 lead. Miami scored three in the eighth to close the scoring at 12-10.
Daniel Cuvet and Marsh led Miami with three RBIs each in the second game on Saturday. Houston had four hits and Kade Lewis who scored the game-winning run in the first half of the doubleheader had four RBIs to lead Wake Forest to the series sweep.
Lazaro Collera took the loss for Miami, Matt Bedford earned the win and Nat Wysong the save for Wake Forest in game three of the series. Miami dropped to 12-9 overall and 0-3 after getting swept in their opening 2025 ACC series. Florida Atlantic is at Miami on Tuesday and Florida State is in Coral Gables next week.
