Miami's frontcourt rebuild took a hit Thursday when Kansas transfer Bryson Tiller committed to Missouri. Tiller announced his decision after Miami emerged as one of his final serious contenders, but Dennis Gates and Missouri closed the deal instead. Tiller averaged 7.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game last season for Kansas.

Tiller's final group included Miami, Missouri, Michigan and Arizona. By the final stretch of the recruitment, the race had largely come down to Miami and Missouri.

Tiller reclassified, enrolled early at Kansas, and started 31 games in his freshman season. He finished second on the team with 45 blocked shots, posted 13 double-figure scoring games and had two double-doubles.

Tiller's relationship with Gates and with Tigers general manager Tim Fuller, who previously worked at Overtime Elite, was part of the pull for Missouri.
