Miami is searching for a big arm to highlight what should be a dynamic 2027 recruiting class and one of the targets that Mario Cristobal has zeroed in on is Israel Abrams. The elite prospect from Arlington Heights, Illinois has been openly interested in the Hurricanes and should be on campus at some point during the spring.

Abrams recently solidified his interest in Miami by placing the Hurricanes in his top five schools. They join FSU, Purdue, Kentucky and Auburn. Abrams has official visits scheduled with the other four schools and should lock something in with Miami soon.

Right now, the assumption is that Abrams will be on campus during the spring and make plans for an official visit then. When Abrams visits for the spring is yet to be announced. He spoke with Anna Adams from 247Sports earlier this week about the relationships he's building with the Miami staff.

"[Miami] was an offer that I was working toward, a dream school kind of thing. I am excited to see what's up with them and build a relationship and see if it's a school I want to give my time to," Abrams told Adams. "I want to see where I stand with them and how badly they want me, or where I am on their board."

As you can see from the comments, there's still a lot left to be determined about Miami's recruitment of Abrams, which is why a spring visit is going to be so important. The Hurricanes have a few major quarterback targets out there and the belief is that Cristobal wants to sign the future arm of the program in this class.

Miami has leaned heavily on the transfer portal to find its quarterback for the past two seasons and the upcoming season with Darian Mensah. But Cristobal would love to have an in-house quarterback that can be developed and possibly start for more-than-one year. Abrams might be that guy.
