Nearly one year ago, four-star defensive back Donte Wright committed to the Georgia Bulldogs, spurning the efforts of the Miami Hurricanes and about two dozen other programs across the country.
Now, he is making headlines (yes, just like the one for this story) as the focus of many teams' flip efforts, including none other than the Canes and head coach Mario Cristobal.
Despite committing to the Bulldogs in June of 2025, Wright has yet to officially shut down his recruitment process, and that has left the window open for teams like Miami to continue their efforts to bring his talent to their program.
Over the weekend, Miami recruiting insider EJ Holland reported that Wright had added an official visit to Coral Gables into his calendar.
Donte Wright adds OV with Miami Hurricanes
Wright already had three OVs scheduled for this summer: one to Georgia (obviously), one to Oregon, and one to UCLA. Now, he will add the June 5 official visit to Miami to the list, leaving the door cracked for the Canes to steal him from the Bulldogs.
He has already taken three trips to Oregon, spending the most time with the Ducks out of any other program in the country, according to On3. He has also taken two trips to USC, which shouldn't be surprising as he's a Southern California native.

So far, Wright has taken just one trip to UCLA and one to Georgia, which is apparently all he needed to commit to the Bulldogs. So, maybe his first trip to Miami will be all he needs to flip his commitment to the Hurricanes.
Wright is the No. 5 cornerback in the class of 2027 and the No. 3 overall prospect out of California for that recruiting cycle. Unsurprisingly, with his high ranking and four-star status, he received 23 offers from Division I programs across the nation.

As of now, it truly seems as though he has narrowed down his interest to the four teams with OVs on the books: Miami, Oregon, UCLA, and Georgia.
