Miami's push for another 2027 offensive line addition came up short, with Valor Christian interior offensive lineman Reis Russell committing to Washington.
Russell, a 6-foot-3, 295-pound interior offensive lineman from Littleton, Colorado, chose the Huskies over Georgia, Miami and USC. His commitment gives Washington another piece in a 2027 class under HC Jedd Fisch, who is entering his third season.

Washington beats out Miami for 2027 IOL Reis Russell
Russell had a Miami official visit scheduled for June 5, as well as others set for Georgia, USC and Washington. Instead, he shut things down early and picked the Huskies.
Russell's relationship with offensive line coach Michael Switzer became one of the biggest factors in the recruitment.
On3/Rivals ranks Russell No. 932 nationally, No. 77 among interior offensive linemen and No. 6 in Colorado. The 247Sports Composite ranks him No. 966 nationally, No. 61 among interior offensive linemen and No. 6 in Colorado.
Russell's father, Matt Russell, played linebacker at Colorado, won the 1996 Butkus Award and was later inducted into the Colorado Athletic Hall of Fame. Matt Russell was a two-time All-American and finished his senior season as a first-team All-American and first-team All-Big 12 player.
The Hurricanes have two offensive line commitments in the 2027 class: Sean Tatum and Tyler Ford. Tatum, a 6-foot-3, 317-pound offensive tackle, is ranked No. 234 nationally and No. 13 among offensive tackles in the 247Sports Composite. Ford, a 6-foot-6, 307-pound offensive tackle, is ranked No. 51 among offensive tackles.
Miami's overall 2027 class sits at nine commitments and No. 15 nationally in the 247Sports team rankings. The Canes have consistently been able to bring in top high school talent under HC Mario Cristobal. So, while this loss is unfortunate, the program should be able to pivot and find success in the recruitment of other top prospects.
