Former Florida State offensive lineman Devontay Love-Taylor is quickly rising through the ranks of college football administration. Love-Taylor earned a promotion from assistant director of player personnel to director with Miami on Monday per Matt Zenitz of 247Sports.
According to Zenitz, Love-Taylor was previously the director of scouting at Arizona State. Love-Taylor is only four years removed from playing college football. After beginning his career at Florida International playing 32 games with 16 starts from 2016-19, Love-Taylor started all 16 games he played at Florida State in 2020 and 2021.
Mario Cristobal initially hired Love-Taylor last July. Love-Taylor was able to begin his career on the staff at Arizona State working under head coach Kenny Dillingham who was his offensive coordinator at Florida State. Love-Taylor is an alum of James W. Mitchell High School in New Port Richey near Tampa.
The experience of going to high school in Tampa, playing at Florida International and Florida State should give Love-Taylor in-depth knowledge of three of the major areas for high school football in the Sunshine State. Love-Taylor was a defensive end coming out of high school who was moved to the offensive line at FIU.

The experience Love-Taylor had of switching positions should also help him in his role as the Director of Player Personnel for Miami. Love-Taylor has a Bachelor's degree, Communication and General Criminal justice from FIU and a Masters Degree in Criminology from Florida State.
Love-Taylor will be a huge part of Miami continuing to evaluate and recruit players as the transfer portal opens for spring from April 16-25. Miami added 11 players during the winter transfer portal window in December and January. There are multiple positions Miami will seek to add transfers to improve depth.
Expect linebacker and wide receiver to be positions that Miami targets in the spring transfer portal. Love-Taylor will work closely with Mario Cristobal to identify players in the portal and who are potentially good fits for Miami. Love-Taylor is one of the fastest rising young administrators in college football.
