The Miami Hurricanes and head coach Mario Cristobal have been wreaking havoc this offseason when it comes to recruiting and the transfer portal (Hello, Darian Mensah and Cooper Barkate).
Now, they're preparing to do the same as they go head-to-head with their two in-state rivals and a couple of other powerhouse programs in the hunt to land a commitment from four-star quarterback Wonderful "Champ" Monds IV.
Monds, a Florida native himself, has caught the eyes of a ton of programs and just locked in five visits for this spring, including one to Miami.
Wonderful "Champ Monds spring visits
- Florida Gators, March 26
- Florida State Seminoles, March 28
- Ohio State Buckeyes, April 4
- Miami Hurricanes, April 11
- Notre Dame Fighting Irish, April 18
Over three weeks, Monds is going to stop by three of the Power Conference programs in his home state, as well as take trips to Columbus and South Bend to check out the Buckeyes and the Fighting Irish.
Cristobal and his staff need to go all in on his trip to Coral Gables to ensure that he is more likely to commit to the Canes than the Gators or 'Noles.

This isn't the only recruit Cristobal is trying to steal from under the noses of head coaches like FSU's Mike Norvell. He has also lined up multiple visits for prospects like Mekhi Williams, who has actually already committed to Florida State.
So far, the Hurricanes have brought in four commitments from the class of 2027, including four-star wide receiver Ah'Mari Stevens, four-star safety Jaylyn Jones, four-star athlete Demarcus Deroche, and three-star offensive tackle Zaquan Linton.
The addition of a player like Monds could propel Miami to a back-to-back top-10 recruiting class, landing the No. 8 class of 2026 in the nation last year.
