Well, yet another quarterback has been crossed off as the possible replacement for Carson Beck and the Miami Hurricanes.
Ty Simpson, who spent a singular season as the Alabama Crimson Tide's starting quarterback, has officially signed the paperwork to declare for the 2026 NFL Draft. To put it simply, that means the Canes can't use the $6.5 million offer to lure him to Miami.
Simpson is just the latest player to be crossed off the list for Miami as head coach Mario Cristobal searches for yet another transfer quarterback, while also preparing his team for the National Championship.
Simpson joined the likes of Sam Leavitt, who signed with the LSU Tigers, and Dylan Raiola, who signed with the Oregon Ducks, as a QB whom Cristobal had to give up on recruiting.

Simply put, Cristobal and the Hurricanes are running out of options for their next QB1, despite the portal having been filled to the gills with elite talent at the quarterback position.
Miami moving on from Ty Simpson, after missing Leavitt and Raiola
Since Cristobal took over the Miami football program just a few years ago, he has relied (almost entirely) on transfer portal quarterbacks, including Cam Ward and Carson Beck.
With Beck's eligibility running up and him most likely declaring for the NFL Draft, right alongside Simpson, the Canes are left wanting at the quarterback position.
Now, there are truly only a handful of qualified quarterbacks remaining in the portal for Cristobal and his staff to turn to, including Oregon's Luke Moga, a sophomore without any starting experience, and San Jose State's Walker Eget, a redshirt senior who doesn't have any Power Conference experience.
Simply put, the Canes missed out on the best options for Beck's replacement and now that Simpson is officially off the board, Crisotbal may be entering panic mode about finding his next go-to guy in the backfield.
