Miami is back in the ACC Tournament after failing to qualify in 2025. The Hurricanes have a double-bye in the ACC Tournament for the first time since 2023 and for the third time in the past five seasons. Miami will seek to advance past the quarterfinals in what has been an albatross round for the Hurricanes.
Miami has five wins and eight losses all-time in the quarterfinals. Top seeded Miami beat Wake Forest 74-72 in the 2023 ACC Tournament quarterfinals in 2023. Playing without star forward Norchad Omier, Miami lost 85-78 to Duke in the 2023 ACC Tournament quarterfinals.
In the 2022 ACC Tournament as the four seed, Miami needed a Jordan Miller layup off the fast break at the overtime buzzer to beat 13th seed Boston College 71-69 in the quarterfinals. Top seed Duke beat Miami 80-76 in the 2022 ACC Tournament Semifinals.
Miami was the 13th seed in the 2021 ACC Tournament and pulled two upsets to advance to the ACC Tournament quarterfinals. Miami beat 12th-seed Pittsburgh 79-73 in the first round and four-seeded Clemson 67-64 in the second round to advance to the ACC Tournament quarterfinals.

Improbable Miami ACC Tournament run ends

In 2018, Miami finished tied for third with Clemson and received a double-bye to the ACC Tournament quarterfinal. After winning 91-78 at North Carolina nine days earlier, Miami lost 82-65 to the Tar Heels in the ACC Tournament quarterfinal.
In 2017, Miami beat Syracuse 62-57 in the ACC Tournament second round. The Miami ACC Tournament run ended with a 78-53 loss in the quarterfinal. The 25-point margin of defeat was the biggest for Miami in its ACC Tournament history.
In 2016, Miami advanced past the ACC Tournament quarterfinals for only the second time in program history with an 88-82 win over Virginia Tech. Second seed and fourth-ranked nationally, Virginia eliminated Miami from the ACC Tournament with a 73-68 semifinal victory.
Miami began a run of four consecutive ACC Tournament quarterfinals in 2015. In the 2015 ACC Tournament second round, Miami beat Virginia Tech 59-49 to advance to the ACC Tournament quarterfinals. Notre Dame ended the Miami run in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals 70-63.
Miami had a magical run in 2013 after winning its first ACC regular-season title to secure the top seed. Miami beat Boston College 69-58 in the quarterfinals, North Carolina State 81-77 in the semifinals and North Carolina 87-77 in the championship game to earn its only ACC Tournament title.
Before 2013, Miami advanced past the quarterfinals only once. Miami beat Wake Forest 83-62 in the first round and Virginia Tech 70-65 in the quarterfinals before losing to Duke 77-74 in the 2019 ACC Tournament semifinals. The 2010 run ended a streak of three consecutive quarterfinal losses.
Before the 2022 and 2023 runs to the ACC Tournament Semifinals, Miami won three out of 11 games in the quarterfinals in program history. Miami enters the game against Louisville on Thursday seeking its third consecutive ACC Tournament quarterfinal victory.
