Just a few days after Tennessee DB Christian Charles was reportedly deciding between Virginia and Miami, his teammate in the secondary, DB Jakobe Thomas, is set to visit Miami this week. Thomas entered the portal as a top 10 available player according to 247sports and will also visit Florida State this week. It has been reported by On3's Pete Nakos that Miami and FSU will be his only visits during the process.

Thomas, who transferred from Middle Tennessee State to Tennessee prior to the 2024 season, played a rotational role for the Volunteers, recording 22 tackles, one sack, and two pass breakups. His performance has earned him the title of the No. 2 safety in the portal.

Prior to his time at Tennessee, Thomas got plenty of reps while at Middle Tennessee. In his redshirt freshman season he recorded four interceptions (one for a touchdown), three pass deflections, one fumble recovery, and 27 solo tackles. In 2023, Thomas recorded 52 solo tackles, three tackles for loss, five pass deflections, and one forced fumble.

Thomas was not statistically as impressive when you compare his 2022/2023 seasons to 2024 but he was slotted to be a starter on Tennessee in 2025. When he announced his intent to transfer, the Volunteers did not want to see him go. Some outlets are reporting that there is a chance he stays at Tennessee.

AJ Haulcy, defensive back from Houston, has also been a name linked to the Hurricanes in this transfer portal class. On Tuesday, it appears as though he was in Coral Gables visiting the campus, but there is a lot of buzz about Haulcy going to Ole Miss.

His decision seems like it will come in the next couple days. Regardless, Miami has been aggressive in trying to sure up the secondary by bringing in upperclassman to help with depth. Keionte Scott out of Auburn/Houston also visited on Tuesday and will be a possibility.
