After splitting a doubleheader on Friday, Miami earned its first ACC series win of 2025 with a 14-4 run-rule victory on Sunday at Pittsburgh. Miami was previously swept at Wake Forest in their ACC series opener last month and lost two out of three games versus Florida State and North Carolina.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, Miami tied the game with a Bobby Marsh sacrifice fly to drive in Derek Williams. Miami took the lead in the third inning when Williams singled to drive in Daniel Cuvet. Dorian Gonzalez followed with a home run that drove in Williams to put Miami up 4-1.

Miami would add two more runs in the fourth inning, five in the fifth and three in the sixth to blow the game completely open. All nine batters in the Miami lineup had hits and everyone but Tanner Smith had driven in or scored a run by the sixth inning. Four Miami players had multiple runs batted in on Sunday.

Gonzalez had three hits in four at-bats with three runs scored and three RBIs. Cuvet was 2-3 with a run scored and four RBIs. Tate DeRias pitched five innings, allowing one run, none earned on four hits with one walk and five strikeouts as the freshman earned his first career win.

The first four pitchers for Pittsburgh allowed multiple runs. Pittsburgh rallied with three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, but fell a run short of extending the game as they left the bases loaded. Ryan Zuckerman had a hit and drove in three runs for Pittsburgh.

Miami returns home on Wednesday to host Bethune-Cookman before Duke is in Coral Gables next weekend. The Hurricanes improved to 17-16 overall and 4-8 in the ACC with the win. Bethune-Cookman swept Mississippi Valley State this weekend. Duke lost two out of three at North Carolina this weekend.
