For good reason, Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward is receiving a ton of attention with the 2025 NFL Draft around the corner. Plenty of analysts strongly believe he's going to be the No. 1 pick when late April gets here.
In a new mock draft for NFL.com, Chad Reuter indeed has Ward going to the Titans to open draft night. Tennessee is in dire need of a new signal-caller and Ward is widely considered the top QB prospect for the '25 class.
However, could another Miami standout be ready to move to Nashville as well? In that same mock draft, Reuter has the Titans using their No. 35 overall pick (second round) to select standout Canes wide receiver Xavier Restrepo. This would be fun to see, right?
Cam Ward and Xavier Restrepo join the Titans in new NFL.com Mock Draft
Restrepo is coming off a huge season with Miami, finishing with 69 receptions for 1,127 yards and 11 touchdowns. The chemistry he and Ward were able to showcase for Mario Cristobal and Co. sure was exciting to watch. Those two were a big reason why Miami's offense was one of the most electric ones in college football.
As for Ward, the buzz continues to grow that he'll be the top pick. He put up historic numbers for the Canes after transferring in from Washington State. Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter are also being discussed as potential No. 1 picks, while pass-rusher Abdul Carter has entered the conversation too. Still, Ward feels like he should be the priority for the Tennessee front office.
"A lot has been made of new Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi's comment about taking a "generational talent" with the first overall pick," Reuter wrote. "All I know is that the Titans need a quarterback to get back to competing for a playoff spot. Ward's five years of starting experience in college and ability to make plays in and outside the pocket give him a chance to replicate the success of 2024's "experienced rookies," Jayden Daniels and Bo Nix."
A lot can happen between now and the draft, especially with the Miami Pro Day and NFL Combine coming up soon. Both Ward and Restrepo have exciting futures and there's a chance they could be teammates once again as early as next season.
