For a guy that teaches and specializes in finance, Bobby Carpenter's final equation on the Miami-Texas A&M game probably needs an audit.
The former Ohio State All-American linebacker tried to diminish Miami's win over the Aggies last weekend, but his numbers just don't add up.
"I think A&M may have been the better team."

"I mean Miami...they couldn't make a stinking...they couldn't make a field goal. They were moving the ball. Now they got the touchdown at the end that got them the win," Carpenter said. "You start looking, Miami had the turnovers, they couldn't get points. And the other thing they had too...hidden yardage. Malachi Toney got the punt return, and they didn't get points on that. I equated it to this... A&M may have been the better team."
Huh?
The balance sheet confirms Miami was the better team
So let me get this straight, Carpenter talks about Miami having a rough day on special teams. No argument there. That tied into Miami being plus-2 on turnovers, one of which came on Texas A&M's final possession. Miami also managed to get hidden yardage, but again the special teams struggled with the wind conditions. And, of course, Miami got the game's only touchdown. Let's add in Miami outt rushing A&M at a 2-to-1 clip in a game where throwing the football was tough.
And taking all of that into effect, Carpenter equates it to A&M being the better team. Talk about your fuzzy math. Miami's main issue was special teams. If they convert on the field goal attempts, it's a two-score, possibly three-score game. The Hurricanes shut down the Aggies run game and forced Marcel Reed to beat them by throwing the ball. He couldn't do it.

Add all this up and the Hurricanes were better. It's ok to just admit the facts,
Of course, don't expect Carpenter, Cardale Jones or the rest of the old Buckeyes to give Miami any credit going into the Cotton Bowl and if Ohio State falls short next Wednesday, they will be racing to their social media to come up with excuses.
