Led by quarterback Carson Beck, Miami has the No. 11 ranked transfer class according to the 247Sports composite portal rankings. The commitment from Beck gives Miami the top-ranked transfer and QB from the portal for the second consecutive season. Cam Ward was the top-ranked 2024 transfer.
The top graded PFF transfers to Miami are Beck, wide receiver C.J. Daniels, cornerbacks Charles Brantley and Ethan O'Connor, defensive tackle David Blay, center James Brockermeyer and safety Zechariah Poyser. All seven of them are projected as starters for Miami in 2025.
Blay is the second-highest ranked incoming transfer for Miami as the 27th player in the portal and No. 2 ranked defensive tackle. Daniels is next as the No. 65 2025 transfer and 18th WR. Poyser is the No. 83 ranked transfer and No. 2 safety. Brantley is the No. 98 2025 transfer and 10th CB.
O'Connor is the No. 135 ranked transfer and No. 18 CB and Brockermeyer is the No. 568 ranked transfer and No. 47 interior offensive lineman in the 2025 portal. The transfer portal rankings from 247Sports don't necessarily match up with the PFF Grades, as they are based on different criteria.
Carson Beck leads the way for Miami's 2025 transfer class
The players listed by PFF all arrive at needed positions for Miami. There was no experience for Miami at QB after Ward completed his eligibility. Blay and Daniels also provide experience to positions of need. Miami lost three DTs and four WRs after the 2024 season.
Brantley and O'Connor will compete with fellow transfer Emmanuel Karnley and returnees Damari Brown and O.J. Frederique to start at CB. Brockermeyer and Poyser are near locks to start as well. Expect Miami to continue being active in the transfer portal heading into the spring too.
Miami needs more experienced WRs to team with Beck to allow them to have an offense near the level they competed at in 2024. Offensive line depth and more defensive backs are the positions to watch for Miami in the transfer portal to fill out the 2025 roster.
