Rueben Bain listened to Texas A&M offensive lineman Trey Zuhn III and others talk their noise for two weeks. And Bain simply replied, "God bless them." Clearly he knew what was coming.
Texas A&M needed a higher power to stop Bain on Saturday because the Aggies on the field had no chance. The All-American defensive end reminded the country of what he's all about. Bain had three sacks, four tackles for loss and a blocked field goal in Miami's 10-3 win over Texas A&M. The Hurricanes will now head to the Cotton Bowl to take on Ohio State in the CFP quarterfinals on December 31.Β

"Like I said before, I don't take kindly to disrespect," Bain said during the post-game press conference. "I had my little reminder on my phone. So for the last two weeks, I was on that. I was ready to play some football. Some guys was in the media, saying some things they shouldn't haveΒ said, but you know, they did, so God bless them. Just writing checks they can't cash."
Bain let it all out after the game
With the victory secured, Bain finally had a chance to say his piece. The 'G'-rated version of his comments were, "some people were talking crazy on the internet, so we had to handle business. Ain't no Gig'Em in here. Go Canes!"

And then there was the NSFW version of his comments made in the locker room. There's a good chance Bain might have to apologize for a few things he said there, but no one can blame him for being emotional. He was challenged by the Zuhn and the Texas A&M offensive line, and he responded by kicking their tails for four quarters.Β
Joining the list of great Hurricanes
Bain will go down as one of the best defensive lineman to play at Miami. That's an incredible list that includes guys like Russell Maryland, Vince Wolfork, Warren Sapp, Jerome Brown and many more. In order to join that special group, he had to show up in the biggest game of his career, the biggest game the Hurricanes have played in over 20 years.
It's everything that Bain and other upperclassmen like running back Mark Fletcher have worked for since deciding to play for Miami and help Mario Cristobal achieve his vision of bringing the program back. The work isn't done. Bain, Fletcher and the rest of the Hurricanes believe they are good enough to win the whole thing.
And after today, no one should doubt them.Β
