Will Harris, a defensive backs coach, recently joined the University of Miami Hurricanes as the safeties coach, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a proven track record. Harris's coaching journey includes notable stints at the University of Washington and the University of Florida.
Harris's reputation as a skilled recruiter has been further solidified by his role in securing the commitment of Jaelen Waters, a four-star cornerback from Armwood High School in Seffner, Florida. Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 170 pounds, Waters is ranked as the No. 13 cornerback prospect nationally and the 20th overall prospect from Florida.
Waters's recruitment journey has been eventful. He previously committed to both Florida State and the University of Florida before ultimately choosing Miami. His decision to join the Hurricanes is attributed in part to Harris's influence and the strong relationship they developed during the recruiting process. Upon securing the commitment, Harris expressed his excitement on social media, sharing a celebratory post that resonated with Miami fans.

Harris began his coaching career in 2013 and has steadily climbed the ranks. At the University of Washington, he served as the defensive backs coach from 2018 to 2021, during which time the Huskies led the nation in pass defense in 2021, allowing only 143.3 yards per game and conceding a mere six touchdowns. His tenure there saw the development of several standout players, including first-round NFL draft pick Trent McDuffie and second-rounder Kyler Gordon.
Prior to joining Miami, Harris was part of the coaching staff at the University of Florida, where he contributed to significant defensive improvements. With Harris now part of the Miami coaching staff, the Hurricanes will want to take advantage of their recent recruiting classes.
The Hurricanes are also in contention for Lamar Brown, the No. 1 interior offensive lineman in the country and Jackson Cantwell, the highest rated offensive lineman (both 2026 class).
