Things no other way to paint last week as anything other than a disappointment for Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes. They were in the picture for three five-star prospects and saw two of them commit to Notre Dame and the other, five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews, made his pledge to Texas A&M.

But Cristobal has been here before, as have the Hurricanes. When you get involved in these battles for elite talent, there will be wins and losses. Cristobal and his coaches will simply get up off the mat and dust themselves off because it's a new week with new possibilities. There's a good chance the Hurricanes will flip that recruiting momentum back around this week and get a nice surge going into the official visit season. Things have already gotten off to a good start with the flip of four-star cornerback Ai'King Hall to Miami from Oregon.

Hall's commitment, which gives the Hurricanes 12 pledges this season, moves Miami back into the overall top ten rankings. The Hurricanes currently sit at No. 6 on the Rivals/0n3 national rankings and No. 9 by 247Sports, moving up a couple of spots after the recent news.

Miami can add to its list of commitments this week

The Hurricanes can ease the pain of losing Matthews by gaining the commitment of offensive lineman Jatori Williams, but they will have to wait until later in the summer. The 4-star prospect from Phenix City, Alabama is projected to play the inside, but with his six (6-foot-5, 315 pounds) there is always the possibility of moving outside over time. Miami is a big favorite to land Williams' pledge with Rivals/On3 giving the Hurricanes over a 95% chance of a commitment. Williams was scheduled to make his announcement on May 22, but recently announced that he is moving the date to July 4.

Williams is a former Alabama commit, but it's uncertain how involved the Crimson Tide are involved in his current decision. He has scheduled a June 5th official visit to Coral Gables. Williams' other scheduled officials are to Georgia (May 29), FSU (June 12) and Kentucky (June 19).

The Hurricanes are also a big favorite to land the commitment of linebacker AJ Randle, with the Rivals/On3 predictor giving Miami a 91 percent chance to land the 4-star prospect from North Carolina. Miami has been filling the board at most positions, but the Hurricanes hae yet to get a commitment at linebacker and Randle is a major target to get started in that part of the class. The other finalists for Randle are Ohio State and Florida. Georgia and South Carolina. Miami is the lead dog in this race and should get the commitment. He has an official visit scheduled to Coral Gables on June 5 and will also visit Georgia and Ohio State in the weekends that follow. Randle will make his announcement Thursday and could be the big news Cristobal needs to get second surge in recruitiing going as the official visits begin.
