It was a week ago when the Miami Hurricanes made countless headlines, signing standout quarterback Carson Beck to take over as the team's starter. Even more headlines were made when it was reported that Beck is getting around $4 million for the 2025 campaign, bringing his total to around $10 million for his college career.
This is something star cornerback Travis Hunter has paid attention to. Hunter is coming off a brilliant 2024 season with Colorado, which led to him winning the Heisman Trophy. He'll be taken early on in the first round and be ready to make a splash. Yet, Beck's new deal with Miami has him rethinking things? Yup! Well, not exactly, but Hunter did joke about things recently, which was pretty darn funny:
Travis Hunter joked he's coming back to college after seeing Carson Beck's NIL deal
"How do you get $10 million? Where's my $10 million? How are people getting this much money, bro? Hold up, let me go test this out. Let me go back," Hunter joked on his podcast. "I'm going back to college. Let me see if I can get $100 million. Let me go see if I can win another Heisman, because $10 million, I ain't make that in college. Let me go hit the portal."
With Hunter projected to be among the Top 3 picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, he'll be able to relax knowing he's got a lot more than $10 million coming his way. Not only that, if he lives up to the hype, his first extension in the league could set records.
What Hunter was able to get done with Sanders and Colorado was unreal. There's a reason he's considered the best playmaker for his draft class. The only reason he's not going to go No. 1 or No. 2 is because both the Titans and Browns are desperate for a new franchise signal-caller.
That's good news for the Canes, as Cam Ward is projected to potentially make his way to the Titans with the No. 1 pick. Should Shedeur Sanders go to Cleveland, will that lead to Hunter getting drafted by the Giants at No. 3? It could happen. As for Beck, he'll look to live up to the hype of his NIL deal in '25, as plenty of people will be waching him closely - including Hunter.
