Luther Campbell has a podcast, and it's about what you would imagine. Uncle Luke is Miami to the core, and he's very excited about the Hurricanes playing in a CFP quarterfinal against Ohio State at the Cotton Bowl on Wednesday night.

But the former frontman of 2 Live Crew and longtime volunteer coach for various Miami-Dade County high schools and youth leagues, has a few axes to grind and a message for Buckeyes wide receiver Jeremiah Smith.

Luke has problems with Kevin Beard

Campbell points the finger at Beard, the Miami wide receivers coach, and believes he's the reason that Smith and other receivers from the region aren't playing at Miami.

"We're gonna have to beat Jeremiah Smith...he's from south Florida... None of these receivers got no business playing at these other places," Campbell said. "They're supposed to be at Miami, but obviously we've got the worst receiver coach, in my opinion, in college football in Kevin Beard."

"All these receivers are supposed to be here, even the five-star that we lost that ended up going to Syracuse. How do you get out recruited by Fran [Brown]," he adds.

The five-star that Campbell is talking about is Calvin Russell, who signed with Syracuse. Russell attended Miami Northwestern High School. The Hurricanes were in and out of his recruitment at various times this cycle, but he was a regular at Miami games this season.

Beard did successfully recruit two four-star prospects for the 2026 class — Somourian Wingo from St. Augustine, Florida and Milan Parris, who, ironically, is from Akron, Ohio.

Luke is openly recruiting Smith for 2026

Campbell rambles on about Smith for a while and suggests that the wide receiver doesn't do any more interviews because he doesn't need to represent the people of Ohio.

"You've gotta come back home. We know you a Cane. You bleed orange and green. You just didn't want to play for [Beard]. I can understand that, Jeremiah....but we're gonna shut you down," Campbell concluded.

Campbell certainly has confidence in the Miami secondary, and he should because it's a very strong unit coming off of a shut down performance against Texas A&M. Seeing how Smith and Carnell Tate match up against the Miami coverage is going to be worth the price of admission by itself. And if the Hurricanes can shut down Smith, there's a very good chance they will be moving on to the CFP semifinals.
