Xavier Lucas report shows why Wisconsin is preventing Miami target from transferring

Another twist in the tale for the Miami CB target.

Are things ever going to get resolved between Xavier Lucas and the Wisconsin Badgers? That's what plenty of people are waiting on, including Miami Hurricanes football fans. The expectation is that once Lucas hits the portal, it won't take long before he commits to Miami, though nothing is locked in.

However, the main problem here is that it's totally unknown when/if that's going to happen. Last month, Lucas called out the Badgers for not submitting his paperwork so that he could transfer. Since then, he has hired a lawyer, who has also called out UW multiple times on social media for not letting his client move forward with the transfer process.

A new report from Colten Bartholomew of the Wisconsin State Journal had shed some light on things. According to Bartholomew's sources, Lucas put the pen to paper on a new NIL deal that locked him in for the 2025 season with the Badgers. However, he reportedly changed his mind soon after and then decided he wanted to transfer.

Miami CB target Xavier Lucas is still hoping to enter the transfer portal soon

There's two sides to this story. On one side, Wisconsin fans are urging head coach Luke Fickell to stand his ground and not let Lucas transfer, especially after he signed the new deal to continue playing for Wisconsin. However, others are urging the program to reconsider.

What kind of a message does this send to other prospects from south Florida who might consider Wisconsin in the future? It's surely not a good look if Lucas, a Florida native, is having to go through a lawyer to help him try to transfer.

Multiple reports have stated that while Miami has added plenty of experience at CB through the portal this offseason, Mario Cristobal and Co. will still add Lucas to the roster if he ends up wanting to play for the Canes. Lucas would be a sensational get for the staff, but this drama with Wisconsin really has things clear as mud. We're hopeful a resolution will come soon, but who knows how this story will end.
