Eye-opening background of Jaiden Bryant’s flip to Miami is all on Mario Cristobal

Cristobal was not going to take no for an answer.

Countless people in Coral Gables are still riding high after 5-star LSU commit Jaiden Bryant had a change of heart and told Lane Kiffin he won't be Baton Rouge-bound after all. Instead, Bryant is going to play his college ball for Miami and Mario Cristobal, with the veteran coach pulling off a recruiting stunner on an SEC powerhouse. How'd that taste, Lane?

Miami rightfully getting greedy with 5-star LB Kaden Henderson

This clearly was something that Cristobal had in the works for a little while too, but it was the way things all went down on the day of his flip that should have people talking. You mean to tell us that Bryant moved up his South Carolina visit, reaffirmed his pledge to LSU, and then decided to trade his LSU pledge for a Miami one? That's exactly how things went down:

Mario Cristobal worked wonders in flipping 5-star commit Jaiden Bryant

This really is head-turning. And it of course isn't the first time Cristobal has been able to flex on the opposition. It wasn't long ago too that Cristobal pulled the same kind of a move on Kirby Smart, with 5-star cornerback Donte Wright also telling Georgia thanks, but he's going to be Miami-bound instead once the 2027 campaign gets here.

With Bryant in particular, he's only making his Miami move even better with how he's celebrating things on social media. He is hyping up the Hurricanes in a big way, while also highlighting the kind of impact Cristobal has had on him.

Bryant's future in the ACC sure is exciting too. Checking in at 6-3, 245 pounds, the South Carolina product is a force on the outside and he's dominant at the high school level in getting after a quarterback. He's going to be ready to do more of the same once he makes the jump to the college game as well.

Per the 247Sports Composite, the future Cane is ranked five stars, the No. 2 pass rusher in the country and No. 20 player overall for the 2027 class. So, yeah, for all you stargazers out there, this is a monster get for several reasons. Keep in mind too that Bryant picked up 23 offers this cycle as well.

Naturally, the questions begs - will Bryant and DJ Jacobs end up coming off the edge together down the road? Jacobs is an Ohio State commit, but Cristobal is working his magic there as well. Wright is helping out with the recruiting efforts and the expectation is that Bryant is going to go ahead and help out there moving forward as well.

For now, Miami holds 18 total commits for '27, with three pass rushers on board: Bryant, Jayvon Dawson and Demarcus Deroche. Adding Jacobs to that group would be downright sensational, but even without him, the efforts there are paying off. Bryant on his own was a monster get and it was a reminder to everyone competing with targets that Miami will always be tough to bring down. Cristobal is making sure of that these days.
