How close are the Miami Hurricanes to getting another five-star recruit in the fold?
Kaden Henderson, arguably the top defensive player in Florida, took his official visit to Coral Gables this weekend and, once again, Miami has set the standard for another elite prospect as he inches closer to a final decision.

The Canes are continuing to make a strong case to keep a coveted in-state talent home.

Henderson has been one of the big targets on defense for Mario Cristobal. The Tampa Jesuit product is a physical presence on the field and the type of player that would be a tone-setter in the middle of the Hurricanes' defense along the lines of their great linebackers from the past.
There is much left in Henderson's recruitment and the five-star tackling machine has made it clear that he's going to make a decision on his own time. The rest of Henderson's official visit schedule includes Texas A&M on June 5 and Notre Dame on June 19. He has already taken a trip to LSU in April. Florida is another program that could emerge in the fall, given the Gators' well-known pipeline with Jesuit High School over the years.
The Hurricanes have been one of the lead horses for the top recruiting class in the nation. Miami already has 15 commitments in the class and Cristobal is likely to add 5–7 more recruits to this class before calling it a day. That means it's mostly big-game hunting for the rest of the recruiting season and Henderson is a big part of the hit list.
Henderson was having a good time, bonding with Hurricane recruits and other targets on his visit. He told Gaby Urrutia from 247Sports that the weekend was missing just one thing.
"I wish my boy, DJ Jacobs, was here too. [Donte Wright]'s dad was trying to get me to commit yesterday. But when the time is right, the time is right. Those guys, they want me to be here, they want to be teammates. They're like-minded individuals like myself that just want to work, win a natty, and be the best individuals that they can be," Henderson said.
5-star LB Kaden Henderson is a must-have recruit for the Miami Hurricanes
The linebacker class for the Hurricanes is missing one piece. Miami received a commitment from four-star outside linebacker AJ Randle last week and also added local recruit Jayvon Dawson, who could project out as an off-ball linebacker or an edge rusher. Henderson is the player that Cristobal and defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman need to connect them all together.
It's hard to say who's the biggest competitor for Miami. Texas A&M has been a thorn in Cristobal's side for this cycle and LSU is trying to be one as well. But Notre Dame is the program to watch with Henderson. He will close out the official visit season in South Bend and
This recruitment is likely going to last through the fall and Henderson could wait until the Early Signing Period to make his final decision. The Hurricanes staff needed to make sure they were going to stay in the picture throughout, and this weekend they were able to do that.
