Williams, a Fort Lauderdale native and former five-star recruit, entered the NCAA transfer portal on April 17, after two seasons with the Seminoles. In his junior year of high school, Williams had 40 receptions for 750 yards and 11 touchdowns. His senior season was limited to seven games, but he still managed 18 catches for 374 yards and five touchdowns. Expectations were high for Williams joining the Seminoles.
During his tenure at FSU, he recorded 21 receptions for 267 yards and two touchdowns. His sophomore year in 2024 saw him make eight starts in nine games, tallying 16 catches for 187 yards and a touchdown, despite being hampered by a hamstring injury that limited his participation in spring camp.
The decision to join Colorado pairs Williams with head coach Deion Sanders, an FSU legend. At Colorado, Williams will have two years of eligibility remaining and is expected to play a significant role in a receiving corps that has seen substantial turnover.
Williams' commitment to Colorado over Miami is notable considering his South Florida roots and the Hurricanes' active pursuit of wide receiver talent in the transfer portal. Miami also recently lost out on Trebor Pena when he committed to Penn State. A positive for Miami is that they have been able to land other WR targets such as Tony Johnson out of Cincinnati and Keelan Marion out of BYU.
Johnson has logged 108 receptions for 1,118 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns in his career. Marion is an All-American kick returner and Second-team All-Big 12 selection with 881 return yards and three touchdowns in his college career.
