Miami took a 5-1 lead halfway through the third inning and survived Florida Atlantic coming back to tie the game by earning a 6-5 win in Boca Raton on Tuesday night. Daniel Cuvet and Dorian Gonzalez were the heroes for Miami with each recording two hits in three at-bats with two runs scored and three runs batted in.
Miami scored one in the first inning, two in the second and two in the third to take a 5-1 lead. Florida Atlantic scored one run in the second inning, two in the third and one each in the fifth and six to tie the game at five. Gonzalez hit a home run in the second and Cuvet cleared the fence to give Miami the four run lead in the top of the fourth.

Miami won the game in dramatic fashion when Tanner Smith threw out Marshall Lindsay attempting to steal when Gonzalez made an exceptional pick and tag for the final out. Lindsay had three hits in four at-bats for FAU. FAU used six different pitchers with Carter Holjes taking the loss.
Miami will take on the 18-2 Seminoles in three games starting on Thursday. The last time the Hurricanes won a series was against Princeton back in February.
