Veteran wide receiver Tyler Lockett couldn't contain his excitement following the Tennessee Titans selection of quarterback Cam Ward as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Lockett, who recently signed with the Titans after a decade with the Seattle Seahawks, took to social media to express his enthusiasm:
Let’s Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats @Cameron7Ward Let’s get it!!!!!

The Titans' decision to draft Ward is a new era for the franchise. Ward's journey from a zero-star recruit at Incarnate Word to a record-setting quarterback at Miami is a unique story that is not often seen at the NFL level.
In his final college season, he threw for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns, setting an NCAA record for career passing touchdowns. Ward has received comparisons from fans to former Titans QB Steve McNair and Warren Moon even said he would consider letting Ward wear his retired No. 1 jersey.
In March, the Seahawks released Lockett, leading to his signing with the Tennessee Titans on a one-year deal worth $4 million, with incentives potentially increasing it to $6 million. His veteran presence is expected to help the Titans' receiving corps and provide mentorship to their newly drafted quarterback. Lockett also never missed more than one game in any season during his tenure in Seattle.
Lockett's addition to the Titans brings veteran experience to a receiving corps that includes Calvin Ridley, Van Jefferson and Treylon Burks. The hope for the Titans is that his presence is going to provide mentorship to Ward.
Ward was the only player drafted from the University of Miami on Day 1 of the 2025 NFL Draft. According to ESPN, Elijah Arroyo is the ninth best player still available as the Draft moves to the second round which begins Friday at 7 p.m. eastern time. Running back Damien Martinez is further down the list at the No. 91 best player available.
