Redshirt freshman wide receiver Ny Carr has decided to withdraw from the NCAA transfer portal and remain with Miami for the upcoming 2025 season. Carr, a former four-star recruit from Colquitt County High School in Norman Park, Georgia, recently entered the transfer portal after completing the spring with the Hurricanes.

During his freshman year, he appeared in five games, recording one reception for eight yards in a 56–9 victory over Florida A&M. Due to limited playing time Carr was able to preserve his redshirt status, maintaining four years of eligibility.

His decision to stay comes at a crucial time for Miami, as the team looks to build upon a successful 10–3 season — their best since 2017. With the departure of key players, including quarterback Cam Ward who is the projected No.1 overall pick in the NFL Draft, the Hurricanes are undergoing a period of transition. Carr's return adds depth and continuity to the wide receiver corps, which will be instrumental in supporting new quarterback Carson Beck, who transfers in from Georgia. Miami was already losing their leading six receivers as well as running back Damien Martinez.

It has not been reported that Carr met with any teams during his brief stint in the transfer portal but there was potentially a connection with the University of Tennessee and the University of Georgia. In high school he was initially committed to the Bulldogs but seems to have burned some bridges with the program, or at least the fanbase. In high school Car was a top 80 prospect according to On3 Industry Rankings and the No. 21 receiver in 2024.

Players returning to their school after entering the portal is not uncommon as Oklahoma DT David Stone did the same thing recently. As the Hurricanes prepare for the 2025 season, Carr will continue to battle for a spot on the depth chart.
